Energy drinks have become very popular. It’s a quick and easy way to add energy. However, it is worth noting that these types of drinks have a vast amount of sugar. You have probably heard more than once that energy drinks harm your health. Check out the effects of energy drinks to consumers in this post.

People buy energy drinks mainly due to their stimulant properties. Their task is to provide the body with energy.  Energy drinks are most often used by people who exercise intensively, work out physically or need a quick stimulation.

The fundamental component of energy drinks is caffeine, which stimulates the nervous system. They also have properties that reduce fatigue and improve overall mental and motor performance. In energy drinks, you will also find other substances with similar effects such as taurine, guarana and vast amounts of sugar. 

Effects of Consuming Energy Drinks

Hair Loss and Gray Complexion

Due to the high dose of sugar and caffeine, consuming energy drinks can harm hair condition. Falling out, split ends and over-drying are only part of the adverse effects. The skin also becomes dry and grey and is more prone to allergies.

Increased Sugar Levels, Overweight, Obesity

Energy drinks are a source of artificial energy and also contain a lot of sugar. A can of energy drink usually contains about 30 to 45 grams of sugar. This amount is about 75 percent of the adult’s need for sugar.

Excess sugar causes symptoms such as glycolic shock, dehydration and, as a result, overweight. Sugar also reduces the body’s resistance to infection and causes inflammation. Sugar in energy products not used during physical activity will accumulate in the body in the form of fat.

Anxiety and Mood Swings

An energy shot can increase stress levels and cause anxiety. Excessive caffeine intake can lead to increased stress hormone and also cause hand tremors and palpitations.

Studies show that frequent caffeine consumption reduces the level of serotonin in the brain. This substance is responsible for well-being. Its deficiency can cause a decrease in mood as well as anxiety and depression.

Do Energy Drinks Help In Studying?

Yes, energy drinks help you study and increasing your concentration.

The caffeine in the energy shot stimulates your nervous system and provides you with a temporary start in your energy levels. When you take it in the right amount, it also increases your mental performance.

Research shows that energy drinks improve students’ cognitive functions. It means that they can perform more in a short period of time. 

This is good if what you want is to spend a whole night studying thoroughly for your exams or if you are doing the work at the last minute. Energy drinks can help you activate so you can better absorb the information you are studying.

However, this does not mean you should not take a rest! Nothing helps you more in your study nights than a good night’s rest.

Lack of enough sleep can have adverse effects on your memory and can impair your ability to retain new information.

If you need to consume energy drinks to stay up all night studying, my advice is to not get used to it. Energy drinks can help you survive a day or two, but sooner or later you will need to rest.

The consumption of energy drinks in large quantities could cause harmful attitudes. So, there is a need for an alternative. Find out the other options below! 

Green Tea

Green tea is the most popular replacement for energy and coffee. It contains less caffeine than coffee and also has a lot of antioxidants that strengthen the body, improve circulation and delay aging. Green tea gently stimulates, enhances concentration, stimulates brain work and positively affects memory.

Water With Lemon

The right hydration dose affects your overall body condition. A natural energy shot prepared based on natural ingredients will be a solid energizing dose. The basis is taking as much water as possible. Adding lemon to it gives you a vitamin bomb that will stimulate your body.
