How to Get Help for Your Persistent Acne?

How to Get Help for Your Persistent Acne? Pin It

Acne is something that many hate to deal with and may not want to admit they have. Covering pesky pimples is a problem that can begin in the teen age and hang on well into adulthood.

If you find yourself avoiding your reflection, the good news is there are modern-day solutions out there. Stop hiding your skin and get back out into the world.

Seek Treatment at Home

Have you ever had a big event coming up, and just as the day arrives, so does a surprise breakout? Having mild to moderate acne is frustrating at any age. The last thing you want to do during a skin emergency is go out in public to find your solution.

Fortunately, we now live in the age of the internet. It is now easier than ever to find relief with acne treatment online. With this new-age approach, you can initiate the intake process from your couch and have prescription medications delivered right to your door. If over-the-counter treatments aren’t cutting it, you can now reverse many forms of acne without a trip to the dermatologist.

Shun the Sun

There is an age-old myth that sunlight will dry up your acne. Recent findings suggest this just is not true. Sunlight really does have a drying effect on the skin, but that’s not actually a solution. The reason is that skin responds to dryness by producing sebum, the oily substance that causes your acne in the first place.

Furthermore, too much time in the sun leads to bigger problems like skin damage and hyperpigmentation, which will actually make stubborn acne look worse. A better solution is to avoid excess sun exposure and make sure you always have SPF protection, even on cloudy days. Protect your skin today, or pay the price tomorrow.

Go Fragrance-Free

Fragrance can be both therapeutic and empowering. That’s why many people have a signature scent — maybe you do, too. What you may not think about, however, is how those scent ingredients are affecting your skin. Fragrances and irritation-prone skin are two things that just do not mix.

The skin on your face and neck is some of the most sensitive anywhere on your body. The layers are thinner, which means what you put on them matters a little more. Your favorite fragrance could be irritating your face more than you know.

While fragrance ingredients may not directly cause your acne breakouts, they can worsen them. If you have sensitive skin, it may be an even better reason to seek out fragrance-free products. Play it safe for your skin and keep perfumes out of your skin care regimen.

Let Water Work Its Wonders

Everyone says it, but that’s because it is true: get those eight glasses of water a day! Not only is staying hydrated great for your overall health, but it is also amazing for your skin. A hydrated body has a complexion that is clearer, brighter, and plumper.

Adding plenty of H2O to your day gives results you can see and feel in your body. When skin is well hydrated, it won’t go into sebum production overdrive; that means less pore-clogging oil on your face. Good hydration also reduces irritation and itchiness, which means you’ll touch your face less. These factors combined ultimately mean fewer breakouts for you.

Choose Products That Are Just As Unique As You

Everyone’s skin is different. That means one-size-fits-all products generally will not fix your skin. What works for your friend could potentially make your blemishes worse!

Changing the types of products you are using to suit your individual needs may be something you overlooked while looking in the mirror. For example, a traditional exfoliator (e.g., a buff puff) may be too abrasive for your skin. Consider a gentler, more modern one in liquid form.

As mentioned earlier, you may require prescription medication for your acne, which you can now access conveniently online. Your telehealth provider will help you develop the right treatment regimen for your unique skin.

Practice Patience, a True Skin Virtue

The last thing you want to hear about your acne-inflamed face is to “be patient.” In a world where it seems we can get most things almost instantly, it can be hard to wait for results.

When you first start a new skin product or add something to your existing routine, it’s easy to assume it’s not working. If you don’t see results immediately, try to refrain from adding or subtracting elements for a few weeks. Your skin needs time to take in new ingredients and interventions, just as if you were taking medication. When you keep changing your products, your skin can get stressed and damaged even further. Give yourself time to adjust to your new routine and your skin some time to breathe.

Breakouts are something that can easily send someone into a social hiatus. Troubled skin can be embarrassing, inconvenient, and even painful. While covering up and hiding out may seem like the solution, modern skincare has better answers.

Stay cool, and calm, and know that help is out there. And remember to cherish the skin you’re in through a little self-love and a lot of self-care.
