How to Choose Right Foundation for Your Skin?

How to Choose Right Foundation for Your Skin? Pin It

A lot of beauty companies are tapping the viability of green products because the market has changed over the years. And as the industry shifts its gears from chemically-enhanced products towards organic essences, we see a market that brings cruelty-free promises.

Products that are made from natural herbs and botanical ingredients are marking the industry with better solutions for men and women. For example, using an organic foundation is changing the lives of many of its customers because of the more straightforward and more natural way; it enhances a person’s appearance without bringing in unwanted side effects.

What Does “Natural” Mean for a Cosmetic Product?

There are many derivate and terminologies when it comes to cosmetics. These days, you do not only see conventional products, but you are saturated with every possible make-up line, including the word “natural.”

But what does it mean when they say “natural,” and where do you begin to define a conventional make-up line from the newer evolutions of the industry? Here are some definitions you need to understand:

  • All-natural.  An all-natural product is a line where the main ingredients are sourced from nature.
  • Natural. Unlike an all-natural product, a make-up line professing to have a “natural” tagline has some of its ingredients derived from non-synthetic compounds.
  • Made with Organic Ingredients.  These are cosmetics, with most of its ingredients meeting the “organic standards.” This means the derivative plants did not use synthetic pesticides, and harvesting techniques still used the conservation method.
  • 100% Organic. Products with a 100% organic label have all of its ingredients meeting the industry’s “organic standards.”
  • Organic. This line is one of the most common we’ll see in a cosmetic front with almost all ingredients passing the industry’s green standards.

It’s fair to say that these labels are often loosely defined, and looking for an organic foundation that stays true to their claims is something everyone should watch out for. But theoretically, when a product says it is natural or organic, you can be sure that they do not contain synthetic materials.

Knowing if Your Foundation is Organic

The hype for organic make-up, including concealers and foundation, has intensified over the last couple of years. But it is also essential to understand that nature does not always mean it is organic. So, it is often complicated to discern whether a cosmetic line is organic as there are chemicals that are not defined as “organic” on its ingredient list.

Here are some ways of identifying whether an organic foundation is chemical and additive-free as they claim:

  1. Check the Organic Seal. To regulate the market, products that are labeled ‘organic’ should have certification marks.  They should either carry any of the recognized seals from the USDA, NSF, or the QAI. Often, this is the only real proof whether you are purchasing something organic as they are verified and certified to pass the industry’s organic standards.
  2. Read the Labels. Though the market is carefully regulated, there are still foundations and other make-up products that claim to be ‘organic.’ In such instances, reading the label will help you determine if their claims are veritable or not. Take note that an organic product must have at least 95% organic derivatives.
  3. Decide your priorities. Some cosmetics are either labeled with “contains organic” or “made with organic.” The difference with this line from a “100% organic” is they have at least 70% ingredients that can be considered as organic.  Choosing where your priorities are will help you determine the right foundation to use.

Using an organic foundation is better than opting for a chemical-enhanced product because it eliminates allergic reactions that you might have. Additionally, using something natural gives you a glowing complexion, clear skin, and a flawless appearance.
