4 Types of Advanced Screening for Major Health Conditions Pin It

One of the biggest perks of modern science has been pre-emptive health screening. Whereas earlier it would take ages to find or diagnose a medical condition. Now you can now get proactive and have your health checks done in advance to find out if you’re vulnerable to possible health conditions in any way. Here are four types of advanced health screening that let you look for and diagnose possible major health conditions. Early so you have the time to either prevent the disorder, reverse it, or minimize its effects on your body.

MRI Scans

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans use magnets and radio waves to create images of various parts of the body that can then be studied for abnormalities. MRIs are extremely helpful in detecting health conditions because they scan the entire body. A full-body MRI test from reputed medical screening firms such as Ezra can look for a number of cancers. Also, other medical conditions include breast, prostate, and lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, fatty liver, hernia, etc. With this full body MRI service, you can take steps to preserve your and your loved ones’ health.

Cancer Screening Tests

Cancer is one of the leading causes of hospitalizations across the US. But with this test, a number of cancers can detect very early so that they are fully treatable. There are several different types of cancer that attack different parts of the body. Currently, the CDC recommends screening tests for four of these — breast (mammogram scan), cervical (pap test, HPV test), colorectal (polyps screening), and lung cancers (low-dose computed tomography). These cancer screening tests, along with MRIs, can detect it early, thus making outcomes more favorable. Most of these tests are non-invasive and quick. The tests can take from time to time to rule out the disease. Let you go about your life in a stress-free manner.

Heart, Stroke, and Cardiovascular Health Tests

According to the CDC, stroke is a leading cause of death in the US, as well as a significant cause of serious disability for adults. The good news is that it is preventable and treatable.

Heart, stroke, and cardiovascular tests consist of initial testing of cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure. If needed, these are then followed up with tests such as the ECG and Echocardiogram.

Ideally, all adults over the age of 35 should check their cholesterol every 5 years. In case of risk factors such as diabetes, family history of heart disease, obesity, and smoking. This screening should begin at 20 years of age. The cholesterol blood test should check for levels of HDL (good type of cholesterol), LDL (bad type of cholesterol), and triglycerides. Cholesterol below 200 mg/dL is considered healthy. High triglycerides detected can indicate the risk of heart disease and diabetes. A level of less than 150mg/dL is consider normal, though below 100mg/dL is ideal. Regularly checking your blood pressure is also extremely important. High blood pressure can indicate a risk of stroke, kidney disease, etc.

An electrocardiogram or ECG is only a few minutes long. It maps your heart’s electrical activity. During the test, electrodes are attached to your chest that helps record this activity. This is then examined by your doctor for abnormalities. An echocardiogram also comes up with important data on your heart’s muscle and valve functions. It employs ultrasound to map an image of your heart by bouncing sound waves off the heart in a non-invasive, painless manner. Your doctor may also recommend other major tests such as CT Calcium Score or Coronary Angiography.

Biopsies

A Biopsy is a procedure for checking for abnormalities by removing tissue or cells from the affected part of the body. Then examining them under a microscope. Biopsies can be used to confirm if the tumor is cancerous or to look for the cause of an unexplained lesion, mole, or infection. Biopsies are usually done on parts of the body such as the bone marrow, brain, breast, stomach, intestines, liver, and skin. If you suspect a particular mole on your body is growing or changing shape or color, has appeared out of the blue, or causes pain or other concerning symptoms, you can check with your doctor. If preliminary testing doesn’t show a cause, your doctor may recommend a biopsy.

A timely biopsy can be extremely useful in getting a favorable outcome on the health condition. When it comes to your wellness, every effort you put in that direction will always be worth it. The old adage Health Is Wealth stands true even today. Where health is concerned, being informed in advance is valuable time saved that can be then used either for preventing the medical condition or proactively limiting it. Nurture and protect your health and that of your loved ones by opting for medical health screening.
